Retail Navigation Through the Generations
Demographics are characteristics that describe who your customers are without defining their personality. For example, a key demographic is age. Consumers of different ages have distinct wants and needs. Therefore, terms such as Gen Z and Baby Boomers were created to classify a group of individuals, most of whom are the same approximate age, having similar ideas, attitudes, and challenges.
The retail industry has been undergoing dramatic changes over the past few years. This sector is inherently shaped by the consumers it serves. With consumer behavior and spending evolving, retailers are often left scrambling to keep up. However, understanding demographic traits can help a retailer appeal to the majority of members of a particular generation based on common preferences within the group.
